In addition to managing a Schedule page
7.1.08
This content management tool can be configured to ONLY write (and/or
OVERwrite) one predetermined page (and probably
should be limited that way for a non-technical client's first encounter with self-maintenance). We instill the need to create a separate text backup or working copy of the page content by not allowing them access to the underlying HTML.
Sooner or later, a client will ask how to italicize or make text bold or big. At that time we can introduce a bit more HTML to them. That is also probably the proper time to also introduce the ability to make minor changes directly to the HTML (rather than requiring an overwrite for any changes).
Later, the client admin interface can be modified (in progressive stages of increasing complexity.
As a first step, we would enable the client to do more general page creation (i.e. make new site pages), later the management tools can be upgraded to include giving the client the ability to modify existing site elements (such as navigation bar, remove and replace images, embed video clips, upload music files etc. etc. ).
