Kart Race at OVRP - 8hrs - June 21 2008
2008 marks the 10th anniversary of the first kart endurance race in America. Since then, numerous karting ventures have followed in Jay de Marcken's footsteps. This year, Jay is again teaming up with Oakland Valley Race Park to present several unique races at one of the most spectacular kart tracks in the country, only 1 hour drive from New York city.
The first race will be an 8 hour endurance race to take place on Saturday June 21. Entries are limited to 18 karts. Teams of 2 to 6 drivers will compete in this event. Drivers are welcome to sign up as "singles" and will be teamed up with 3 other drivers. Karts are state-of-the-art BIREL racing chassis with Honda engines. OVRP is sanctioning this event and all track rules apply. More information, including pricing, schedule, and race rules to follow..

Pricing:
Teams: $1,900 entry fee.
Singles (4 drivers/team): $525.
Included: entry fee, use of kart, crash damages, racing gear at no extra charge.
Not included: pit pass $15 per person (drivers and spectators)
Schedule:
8:00 AM: Registration
9:00 AM: Drivers meeting
9:30 - 10:15 AM: Practice & Qualifying
11:00 AM: Green flag, OVRP 8 Hours
7:00 PM : Checkered flag
7:15 PM: Podium
Rules:
- All drivers must attend drivers meeting & participate in practice session
- Mandatory 15 pit stops (16 stints), counting fuel stops
- Double stints:are allowed (terms & conditions tbd at drivers meeting)
- Fuel stops: minimum 5 fuel stops (each 90 seconds). Driver changes allowed.
- Each driver must drive a minimum of 2 stints.
- Normal racing flag rules apply. (Review at drivers meeting)
- Bumping & reckless driving: 1st infraction, furled black, 2nd infraction black flag 10 sec. penalty.
