um.... i thought there were 14 vice presidents elected into office. was that wrong? i'm so confused. I'm working on a paper and it's do tomorrow and i need to know this.

These are the vice presidents who succeeded a president to office before the end of that president's term of office (by death, or resignation of the sitting president).
BUT...you are right to look harder for a definitive answer to your question, there are 14 presidents who were former vice presidents.
Google "How Many Vice-presidents Became President"... and notice that this is different than the title of my article, which is "How Many Vice-presidents Became President During Their Terms of Office ???".
Futhermore, my article is a political commentary, not a reference for scholarly research (and that is what homework is!). Always look for several sources for answers to your questions on the web, and be sure that the one you choose is trustworthy.
