This used to be on the record player at Cascabel Clayworks, back when we lived in a 47 Studebaker school bus 25 miles up the San Pedro River. Looked for it in every record store in NYC for YEARS, and finally found out whose it was, and what it was a few years ago.
Helsinki regular, folk artist supreme Chris Smither is the co-writer on this masterpiece, and told me over dinner one night that he really doesn't want anybody to know. Seems poor old Brockett has had this as his "Alice's Restaurant" albatross for way too long.
Be that as it may, I think it is an American classic...and still makes me laugh..long and loud.
Visit Brockett's site and get his music at Amazon.
But for right now, grab yourself a piece of rope, and take a walk around the wheelhouse, Cap'n.
